Important tourist and recreation village of desert of Domažlice. First mentioned in 14th century, when originated the village Nová Kdyně by the church of St. Nicholas. In the year the village was raised to town. Interesting are the building of town-hall from 17th century at the town square and Empire gate with statue of lion from the year 1840. In the past Kdyně was an important centre of textile industry.
